Just what are you plotting?

So, as week two of NaNo draws to a middle, I find that my plot of Adam and Steve hooking up after double-date mishaps is a bit lacking. The solution clearly lies somewhere within this poll:

What if Carly was actually a sooper sekrit gambler and left behind huge debts, which the local goombahs now think Adam is responsible for, so Steve has to help him on his wild crosscountry scramble to escape the clutches of the Guidos. On the way, they have sex in as many motel rooms as possible.

Or, Carly is an informant on her mobster boss, which is why she left so abruptly, only now her boss thinks Adam was in on it. See above re: sex + road trip.

Or, Carly was an informant, but the trial is over and it's safe to come home. But omg, Adam + Steve! Not only give you a wide-open shot at sarcastic jokes, but also some romantic tension and angst angst angst opportunities. Or, and let's be honest about who's writing this comment here, threesome opportunities.

I sort of life the gambling debt backstory. this was weirdly the best way ever to come up with some plots, when really i was just being funny. I should post this on the boards.

I think you could combine options one and two really nicely.

Steve discovers that Adam has these outrageous mob debts, and without consulting Adam about it, begins planning the diamond heist in order to get the money to bail him out of trouble. Adam, not knowing that Steve has a plan, decides to gamble on the illegal rat fights. Each of them discovers the other's shady, dubiously-legal plan; misunderstandings, betrayal, hijinks ensue. Eventual reconciliation as the successful outcome of both schemes allows Adam to pay off his debts and Steve to spring for a Caribbean trip for both of them.

this was the best accidental writing excercise ever. 1 and 2 are indeed my favorites.

I think it should also be discovered that the reason Carly had the rat in the first place was so that she could train it to win rat fights, in addition to all the subterfuge you mention.

See, NOW i'm excited. This is what NaNo is all about.

Or Steve steals the Green Mountain and as a result catches a mysterious and possibly fatal disease (which could be, like, this ancient Native American curse [which is always fun] or a biochemical safety measure or something) and Adam's the Only One Who Can Save Him, but he's torn between saving him and handing him over to the authorities to cure him and lock him up.

Of course, all the other ideas are fantastic, too. ^_^

nah, i haven't archived any of these things, there's just the random chunks i've put up on my journal. Since I've started all over anyway, I haven't really done anything organized with them.

And why is my icon showing up as the red x of doom? *kicks LJ*
