new PoT endtheme: *sounds kind of funny*

Sara: "Hey, that sounds kind of like..."

new endtheme: *plays again and sounds even funnier*

Sara: "...several of the Seigaku regulars singing?"

new endtheme: *plays yet again and is clearly Ryoma singing his little brains out*

Sara: "oh holy asldkfjadf i love this show."

yes, that's right, it's the VOICE ACTORS singing the endtheme. apparently four of them made a band to release this single. and then in retaliation, the other five regular voice actors made ANOTHER band and released their own single.

also, evidently Fuji and Tezuka refuse to sing by themselves. *snerks*

Do you have all the image songs yet 'cause they're all kinds of cracktastic. XD

is image the name of the other band, or for just this entire cracktastic phenomenon? right now i have 'happy birthday' and 'rock 54', and also a handful of musical Fuji numbers (which is the scariest and yet most hilarious thing ever).

i can't believe the seiyuu are a band. TWO bands. the gay of this show surpasses even fangirl rationality.

Oh, image songs are just the songs sung by the characters which (usually) reveal something about their personalities/motivations. You see it all the time with various shows, often included with the original sound tracks or, in the case of tenipuri, released seperately as their own character CDs. There are about a billion tenipuri image songs for the various main characters. ...and have you watched the tenipuri musical yet? 'cause if you haven't. omfg. so. much. crack.

And later, I believe some of the rivals also form a band. The show is crazy. XD XD

oh god, are you kidding? that's the funniest goddamn thing i've ever heard. why can't american pop culture get all up on this? I love there there are cds that are nothing but character fangirly navel-gazing.

i have not seen the musical, although i have heard much about it, and again, the gay of this show continues to boggle the mind. i was trying to make it through most of the fansubs before i succumb to the ultra crack of the live-action business.

*chokes on love for this fandom*

lol, ABSOLUTELY. I never say no to crazy fangirly j-pop. Well, i don't know about the not a weirdo part *g* but the crack is always welcome.

but about this image song business. Do the seiyuu always do it, or is some of it fandom? once i figured out the trick, i was irked that oishi and eiji weren't in the same band! i want golden pair duets, dammit!

i love that you are so crazy and excited about the shit i am into, because i have no RL people to squee with, and thus must confine myself to psychotic LJ comments like "MOMO WITH LITTLE SQUARE GLASSES SDKFJSDFKJ FUCK SQUEE."

CRAZY LIKE A FOX.

i adore when the official stuff is every bit as fangirly as anything we come up with on our own in fandom.

i feel there needs to be gravi fic where the issue of seiyuu bands is addressed. "You're getting beaten by Aozu again, brat." "SHUT UP they aren't even a REAL BAND."

It really is (although with less actual sex).

And that would win at everything (although even Yuki would agree that their lyrics are often worse than Shuichi's: Inui reciting pi, and the one where half of it is Ryoma going lalala being examples).

Haha, I actually know nothing about the whole image song business -- I just searched "Prince of Tennis" on my downloading program and grabbed anything that popped up. I used to assume they were from the musicals, but then I watched the musicals (they weren't in them), and eventually I think I decided that they must be from random soundtracks and didn't give it any other thought. [livejournal.com profile] ponderosa121's comment educated us both. :D

i love that you are so crazy and excited about the shit i am into

THE BEST KIND OF CRACK IS THE CRACK SHARED. What episode are you up to? Fallen in love with a pairing yet? The GP doesn't count, because they're so obvious it's practically canon.

Shall upload tons of PoT music tomorrow, by the way! YSI is being a bitch at the moment, and it's bedtime. ♥

i'm up in the high 50s right now (momo and eiji just finished beating Hyoutei). Oishi in the headband! *snuggles* there must be Golden Pair injured wrist comfort fic.

"how about now, Oishi? can you play with me noooooow?!"

the pairings kind of snuck up on me, other than GP and Fuji/Tezuka, but recently i've been noticing the Momo/Ryoma, and also some Inui/Kaidoh. Although honestly, the rivalry between Momo and Kaidoh cracks me up so bad, i wouldn't be against them having angryrival!sex. "Dammit! I won't let that guy beat me! Okay, well, maybe a little..."

also that doubles pair they play street tennis with? I like them.

What episode are you on, and who do you like? yay for YSI! you're my hero!

I think it has close ties to the overwhelming love that the Japanese have for kareoke :p Although, man, some seiyuu should just not be allowed to sing. Sometimes the songs are downright painful to listen to. Most of the regulars have about three or four songs each, and some of the rivals too. Oddly enough, tenipuri doesn't have a lot of duets though, go figure.

The musical is fabulously hilarious. ...and tenimyu Kaidoh is so my boyfriend. Nngh.

I have all kinds of joy for this fandom, even if I don't devote nearly enough time to it. :3

Do you know if it's available to download somewhere, aside from through torrent sites? Being Mac-based, I never could figure those out.

OMG! I ADORE the Pi song! Haha!

And I love the fact that I understand the whole thing, having learned all of my single-digit numbers in Japanese. :)

I MUST get this anime.
