Baby Rats!

I found a girl reasonably near me who had two litters of accidental rats (oops) and I ended up taking four of her boys.

yes, four. yes, i know. i know. You all wish you had four baby rats. 5 weeks old! so soft and tiny! *in love*

There's Atobe (blue berkshire), Jiroh (Beige with splotches), Shishido (Black with white socky feet), and Ohtori (beige). Both beiges are going to have points (dark noses and butts) like their mom.

rat pile The boys immediately pile into the hammock. I am so in love with the teensy floppiness.	2 beige 1 footie Shishido smooshes in between Ohtori and Jiroh. Jiroh, btw, has been asleep in the hammock the entire time they've been home so far.
atobe Atobe seems to think this platform is his.	jiroh is breaking out at least i think this is Jiroh. Jiroh has splotches on his side and Ohtori is a little darker, but in pictures, it's really hard to tell who i caught.
atobe and shishido this picture slays me. Atobe and Shishido run over to where I am all the time and like fling themselves at the bars for attention. and they don't even like me yet! this is going to be trouble.	Ohtori This is actually Ohtori, i believe, who can't eat by the food bowl for some reason, but must take the lab blocks back to the hammock for consumption.

I *knew* you'd get more than two. :D THEY ARE SO CUTE! Now I want some. I miss when my girls were so tiny and active. (But they're only just finally good enough to let out of the cage for long periods of time now.)

I forgot to ask what kind of needles you used to make the socks. Were they three double pointed ones? That baffles me so far. I found a cheater sock pattern that needs sewing up that I'm trying.

they are adorable! the fumbly wrestling is killing me, they're hilarious. Atobe is in my sleeve right now.

Yeah, you make the socks with three (well, really 4 cause you need one to knit with) double needles, mine were 3.5 mm, which i think is standard. Don't be scared of them! it's not hard at all. Getting them joined up into the triangle takes a little patience, but then after that, it's just like regular knitting.

I should scan in the pattern I used for you, it explains turning the heel and things really well, once i got started.

Rat wrestling is so cute. Mine have taken to knocking each other off the hammock or smacking each other down when one's up on the edge of the bathtub and the other's trying to jump up next to her.

I'd love to have that pattern if you could send it. The socks look perfect. I tried to make booties and they looked like demented Christmas stockings.
