Am thinking about modding the PS2 to play import games. In one of the ways that involve me not soldering anything.

Discuss.

Is that even POSSIBLE? Because it would be pretty damn cool in that case.

is it possible to mod them? or is it possible to mod them without soldering?

The answer to both questions is yes. this (http://www.mod-chip.com/index-cart-us.php?go=en/select_ps2_main.htm) is the site I was on. I was thinking about the one where I just have to replace the little door on my console.

I knew modding was possible--apparently mod chips just got officially declared legal in Australia--but that's pretty cool. Go for it!

When my brother modded our PS1 he took it to a store to have it done...probably at an Asian mall. I think it cost about $150 at the time, parts included. If you know any, um, shady electronics shops, they might be able to do it for you.

You may want to enlist the aid of someone who has done this before. Some of the techie things don't love you anymore when you try to make them something they're not. Perhaps someone on a PS message board can help you (??)
