I've been practicing my kana with this silly flash game for the last couple days. It shouldn't be so fun, but then again, i'm an insufferable dweeb.

this also explains why i end up yelling "fuck YOU, ne, you curly bastard!" because i keep confusing ne and na and te and ta.

*watches Law & Order in Friday bliss*

"ta" actually looks kind of like the letters t and a. That was one of the easier to remember for me!

OMG, I loved that! I want to work my way up the levels in the kanji game. Fun and educational!

the kanji is totally fun, because they give you some single ones and some compounds. In level 3, man/boy = rice field + power. *cracking up*

and I like the way that 'wealth' looks like a guy in a house with all his stuff.

i think i have it now, but there are a whole bunch in that group that look like a t plus something. The problem is that you're kind of guessing, so the next time i remember that i had it narrowed down to two out of eight, but if those two look pretty similar, it takes me a lot of tries.

omg this should not be so much fun. *clicky*

Yeah, when I started learning kanji, I was trying to memorize them by coming up with things they looked like to me. "Taihen" kind of looks like a witch in a pointy hat, so I thought, "if you met a witch, you'd be in a tough situation". It doesn't always work that way, though. :)

lol, it's funny how sometimes those work and sometimes they don't. in latin, celare means to hide, and my students invariably come up with "hide the celary!"

I have no idea why this works for them, but they all do it.

I'm working on level 5 right now, and it suddenly got hard because i don't know half of them any more XD

Did you know the actor playing Arthur Branch is running for President? I did not know that.

That kana game is way too addictive. It's a good way to figure out what I need to practice, ne?

I've stopped studying kanji for a while (and Japanese as a whole, really) to focus on other things, so I fully expect to be extremely rusty. I hope this will be a quick and fun way to keep my reading skills from complete atrophy.

You might be interested in Slime Adventure to practice kana, though personally I'm very upset with the game. The damn slimes stole my money while I was sleeping! And what the hell kind of kana are "we" and "wi"?
