I was digging through my old entries, looking for something i said to ellen months ago, and i came across this entry from last September:

"I've recently developed a taste for Inuyasha, the only one of the half dozen animes on Toonami that I don't find more or less interchangable with the others (except .Hack//sign). I was on the way to the shower yesterday, and I started watching while I was undressing, and then i just sat down on the floor naked because I HAD to know what happened."

I'd forgotten my Inuyasha fixation was that old. the power of a good cartoon, i suppose, demands your attention whether you are clothed or not. (been reading the manga, [livejournal.com profile] ramen_addict, if i didn't say before, but i'm only up to 5 because i am teh br0xx0rz).

The movie's out on DVD now *wants* Was so good. yay for impulsive NYC trip!

If you want me to dig out my scanlation and translation links again it won't be a problem at all--it's not nearly the same, but it's good for tiding a body over until money and the publishers smile down in tandem. 8D

I still have them on the computer from last time i think. I read through some of the scanlations (that's a great word), but i'm a big whore for the 0wnnz0ring so, you're right, it isn't nearly the same. I just keep waiting for that perfect ebay lot where there are a bunch i haven't read for cheap.

I saw an Animorphs book at the library book sale the other day, and i nearly got it, but then i was like 'my brother has dozens of these' and restrained myself. Res. Trainsd. Traaaained. Ned. Ne-duh.

I just found most of my Animorphs books and started rereading a few, but I'm starting to think I'm going to have to hit Half-Price Books or someplace for whatever I can find.

So, if you were going to try to pimp someone into Inuyasha in 200 words or fewer, what would you say?

*doomed*

the best thing to do right now, IMO, is to probably just rent the movie. It's got a concise sum-up, you see all the characters, and it takes place at an unspecified point in the series, so it's a good encapsulated story. My friend who went with me liked it a lot, and she didn't know a thing about Inuyasha beforehand (and isn't really into anime, or cartoons for that matter, in the first place).

But to actually talk somebody into it? *cracks knuckles*

Kagome: School girl sailor uniform. Nuff said.
Inuyasha: If you like either snarky, growly heroes or cute little puppies, i don't see how you can resist. and the Inuyasha/Kagome bickering is the best ever. They're SO MEAN.
Miroku: the constant lecher action as a running gag is fantastic. how can it not be great when his first line to any female is "would you do me the honor of bearing my children?"
Sango: kicks hella ass. Usually's Miroku's. Has this wicked demon-smiting boomerang thing.
Shippo: cute and fluffy. ickle fox demon!

in general, it's a good mix of action/comedy/romance (the movie preserves this mix accurately), and the episodes tend to be self-contained mini-adventures within the story, so you don't have to watch a hundred million of them to catch on.

talked you into it yet?
