so sick. hate body.

how many consecutive doses of advil can you take before you seriously do overdose? and what does fever+ chills+ nasuea+ toothache actually mean, anyway?

*wills job to be over so I can go home*

I think you can take a lot of advil over a short (and finite) period. For instance, when I had my wisdom teeth out and then there was the big mess about them (you don't wanna know; suffice it to say the wounds hurt for many, many weeks), they said a couple of advil every couple hours, over the course of several days or even a couple of weeks, wouldn't do damage.

Notice I'm not a doctor. This is just what they told me, in 1990, though this was just about the time they were starting to understand big big amounts of ibuprofen could do kidney damage. In any case, my kidneys are fine, and I took piles of Advil for a couple of weeks.

I like Aleve better, myself.

Fever + chills + nausea means go back to bed. No one else wants to catch it, man. I'd have sent you home the minute you walked in the door.

that's good to know, cause let me tell you, i've had more than they say you should take in a 24 hour period on the back of the bottle. For some reason, I'm burning through the stuff in about 3-4 hours, instead of the 4-6 hours it usually lasts me. I don't know if it's a factor of the disease, or just my body being ornery. 'oh no, you'll have a fever when I SAY you'll have a fever, bitch!'

Yuck, with the toothache, I'd hazard sinus infection. Or just bad congestion. As long as you take the doses 4 hours apart or more with plenty of water, you'll be fine. (Otherwise, it'll irritate your stomach.) Aleve/naproxen works for longer, if you can find some. You can take twice the recommended dose of that no problem. I hope you feel better soon!

i just got rid of a long-standing sinus infection in July, so I'm really hoping it isn't that. I'm not really congested or anything though, i'm just so achy and cold from the fever that i want to die. We attempted to take my temperature last night, but i was suspicious of the 103.3 it reported. once you get up to near 104 aren't you like dying for real?

in any case, i'm skipping class and going home to expire there on the couch.

Crap, you'd better check your temp again. If it's still high, try to get to a doctor.
