I finally got a chunk of time to watch a few more Kyou Kara Maou's today, bringing my grand total up to 5. OMG SO CUTE.

the whole contact scene had me snickering mercilessly, cause it was so out of place but then so accurate. Obviously it would be stuck to your shirt :) I was additionally excited for pirates, although i was puzzled by their skirts. I guess if nobody ever looks up into the rigging, it's okay...

and Wolfram's little jealous streak was too cute. "Dancing with a girl? what do you MEAN you were in a pool with naked men?!" of course all wounds are healed by responses like "you're like three times the cute of me." *snuggles Yuuri*

and, yay for fansubs, but, er, is Yuuri April or July? Cause i was all excited at first for shared april birthdays, and then they changed their story.

thanks again for these, laylah_r! my week needs some up. Also it needs some happy anime icons. I did make myself some Hisoka/Tsuzuki wallpapers though.

hee, think like Draco/Harry but drawn with large anime eyes. that is essentially the hot of Kyou Kara Maou.

I agree. My first exposure to KKM was in the BU anime club; I came in about two-thirds of the way through the second episode, just before the Yuuri/Wolfram fight, and coming from an HP background, I was all, "Eeek! Who is that Draco lookalike with the snotty attitude? Who is the adorable Harry lookalike? Why is that Lucius lookalike fawning over the Harry lookalike? Who is the stern-looking Snape lookalike? Am I the only one who is noticing the absurd slashiness in all of this?"

Of course, none of those comparisons hold up, because even if some of the aspects of some of the characters map onto their HP lookalikes, their characters are generally quite different. Wolfram may be a gorgeous snobby pure-bred rich boy, but he's no Draco; Yuuri may be the saviour of the Mazoku, but he's not much like Harry; and none of the other characters are even close. Even so, I still agree with your assessment of Wolfram/Yuuri.

heh, well, since i'm only a handful of episodes in, they are still rather H/D-esque. only, you know, engaged. i am so amused that the first thing Yuuri says about Wolfram is "bishounen!!"

It's just so freaking cool to watch things where the slash is canon. I know that there are a million things to see outside the world of shounen-ai, but i am still hung up on the cool of that.

I know! I adore Kyou Kara Maou! That contact scene was fabulous. I had to replay it again very slowly though, to get a better look at it; as far as I can tell, the contact is not on Yuuri's shirt before the pirate notices it. The whole thing lent itself to the surreal, not-quite-there feeling that that part of the series expresses so fabulously.

And Wolfram's jealous streak is fabulous! I love how even though he was so angry to find himself proposed to, he's always all "Hands off my Yuuri!" Yuuri's own inability to see how much everyone around him adores him only makes this aspect funnier.

yay, someone to squee with!

So I just watched the one about them getting the sword, and I nearly peed myself laughing during the little scene of Gunter and Gwendel getting high with the kitten!

and wolfram...my love for him grows in leaps and bounds. Because obviously the way to end a fight with your fiance about whether he even wants to be your fiance is to lock yourself in the closet.

I just don't understand why every fangirl within a hundred miles isn't on this boat.
