Nov. 15th, 2004 11:45 pmIf somebody gets put in overnight lockup for being drunk, and somebody else comes to pick him up in the middle of the night, is there bail involved? What's a reasonable amount for bail?
and what would the police really do if you came to bail somebody out with your pet rat along for the ride?
laylah_r, my package arrived today! EEEEEE! you are brilliant!

Date: 2004-11-15 09:09 pm (UTC)Like, you have to go to the police station and pay the bail and get a receipt and then go to the jail (not the same place...) and present the receipt and wait while they do anything important and/or file their nails until they get around to releasing your sheepish drunk. This is extra fun if you happen to have, say, a couple of small children with you.
I dunno a figure. I can tell you the figure for if they're in jail for leaving the scene of a non-injury accident while uninsured is something like $565.

Date: 2004-11-16 06:59 am (UTC)I should go find out specifically what happens here in VT, but i don't feel that it's the best plan to show up at the police station and inquire what the exact chain of events is for being picked up drunk. "I'm just curious, officer..."
