apple is brilliant!

for $600 i could have a brand new, dvd-burning, panther-running imac replacement. for another hundred bucks i could have 80G of memory, although possessing the external hard drive makes that of questionable use. i would need a monitor.

just the thought of how easy this will make it for people to switch to macs makes me tingly (ellen, can you tell that your christmas gift was perfect?). when my parents finally admit that their computer is a virus-infested piece of shit that has NEVER worked properly, i can sway them to the dark side!

*cackles*

Yes. Craving so much. I have no need whatsoever for a desktop (my Powerbook treats me just fine, thanks!) but omg, so SHINY!

If it weren't for the fact that our ISP doesn't even support any non-Windows OS, I might have an easier time convincing Mom to get one of those minis instead of the Hewlett Packard she's thinking of getting. Never mind the fact (which I just realized and thus have yet to argue) that we could use the still-fully-functional monitor Mom bought last year for it. *pouts*

It's pretty much a non-issue once you get the configuration done, really, and that's not hard on Macs. The only time I've had to talk to my ISP in the past God-only-knows-how-many years (I've had an account with NWNexus since 1995) is to get some billing information changed and figure out why a few e-mails to me were bouncing (they'd accidentally added the incoming domains to their spam filter).

....which sounds a little paradoxical, but I meant I couldn't remember how long ago it was I had to contact them last. La la la yay for clarity. ;)

The gist of which will translate to something like "I know more computer geeks than you do and they're on my side!" when next I try to convince Mummy dearest.

I'm really impressed with the improvements Mac has made in the past few years--mysteriously after I spent 3 years tearing my hair out fixing constantly broken Macs at the newspaper I worked at. It must be a conspiracy. :D That's a great deal!
