NYC plans?
Feb. 9th, 2005 09:22 pmso...what's the plan for Friday? perhaps having one would be great. Ellen and I are going to leave here 10ish, so we'll be at Robin's between 2-3 and probably in the city a little bit after that.
When is everybody else showing up? When do we want to do dinner? Anybody have any suggestions for where we might go?

or you can IM me if that's faster (mousapelli on AIM)

Date: 2005-02-10 03:14 am (UTC)Let me know if you need directions.
Ellen and I booked a room in the Times Square area, so maybe we want to do something around there? Or elsewhere. I'm very flexible and sadly not good with the ideas.

Date: 2005-02-10 03:45 am (UTC)Times Square is probably easy and logical, although it might be kind of a zoo on a Friday night for dinner. Victoria will probably have some good suggestions.

Date: 2005-02-10 08:03 pm (UTC)Ellen needs to find out whether the hotel has parking or not, but either way we will be getting you first i assume. We're going to leave here hopeful close to ten. how long does it take to get there?

Date: 2005-02-10 08:09 pm (UTC)What we can do is either leave the car in the driveway then take my parents' car with the parking sticker to the station (dad'll pick it up when he gets back from work and then you can get your car at the end of the weekend) or drive in from here. Either way it takes a little more than an hour. Though the train is ridiculosuly expensive (I think $20 or so for an off-peak round trip. Went in peak today and it was nearly 30 *woe*) and driving can take awhile if you hit traffic. Also, parking in the city generally costs a fortune anyway.
If you guys get here around 2 (and I'd say it varies from 4-5 depending on how much speeding you do), then we'll definitely be in the city in time to meet everyone either way.

Date: 2005-02-10 04:19 am (UTC)As it stands right now, we're talking about eating at Tony's in times square (it's right near the harvest brewpub thing), so do you just want to meet us there? Vic won't be get out of work until about 6 anyhow, so I think our target time is going to be 7ish anyway.
obviously we can't start the party without you *g*

Date: 2005-02-10 04:40 am (UTC)In the interests of doing something New Yorkish--the newly reopened MoMA is free Fridays from 4-8 pm, though I think there's a limit to how many people they allow in--that's close to Times Sq, and there's also a really great Japanese noodle place really close to there. One place that can be really fun in Times Sq is the Hello Kitty store on 42nd, though the last couple times I was there they didn't have anythign interesting and I was out really quickly. There's also the good old Virgin megastore, since you are coming from the wilds of VT, if you need cd or dvd shopping--though of course everyone does that online now.

Date: 2005-02-10 05:07 am (UTC)I think we are going to do Tony's in times square for dinner, because marks won't be there until close to 8, so it'll be easy for her to find us. Is Italian okay by you?
We're going to shoot for meeting for dinner at about 7, because that's when Victoria gets out of work, but ellen and robin and i will be in the city maybe around 5?, so MoMA or Virgin or whatever sound great! and hehe for hello kitty. Does ellen have your email? we should all exchange cell numbers.

Date: 2005-02-10 08:12 pm (UTC)Should we just give you a call when we're in the city? ellen's estimating 5ish, barring major emergency and/or blizzard (thanks a lot, Burlington).
woohoo!

Date: 2005-02-10 09:50 pm (UTC)I don't know where the brewery is either--Times Sq not a big hangout for me. If you can give me the intersection that would be great
