I spent the majority of episode 60 in tears, because i already knew what was coming, and titling the episode "Farewell Hikaru" did not help at all, you bastards. I was just a bit wibbly at the beginning, and then when they were on the train i started to actually sniffle (somebody's fic has to do with Hikaru and the train), and by the time Hikaru is like "Fine, one game, then i'm totally taking a nap", the tears were already streaming.

and then Sai launched into his realization that Toajiro (whose name i cannot spell and am not so much for the looking up of at this second) hadn't wanted to leave him, and he doesn't want to leave to Hikaru (and this is totally making me cry all over again), and that if he is here for Hikaru, then Hikaru must be here for somebody else, at at that point it was a good thing i only had to read subs anyway because i was probably sobbing too hard to make out dialogue.

and now i am applying chocolate pudding to the wound before i attempt to go on to the rest of the series, but it isn't helping so much. The rat, who is already out of sorts because it is laundry day and he is trapped away from my comfy bed, is hanging on the edge of his cage making concerned whuffling noises at me.

or maybe he just wants my pudding.

That episode makes me sob. I have to keep tissues boxes near me for that whole arc. It just... *whimper*

i see why they have to do this random Sai flashback episode *clings*

I hated when I read that part in the manga, because I kept hoping Sai would show up somewhere and everything would be sunshine and bubbles again, but all he gets is a single solitary dream sequence where Hikaru does all the talking! In the entire rest of the series! *wibbles and then goes back to Happy Denial Land*

hehehe, their hats! so cute!

breaks. my. heart. Waaah, Hikaru's little "i'll let you play every game" breakdown isn't doing my any good either.

but does the manga have the sidestory about Sai winning back the flowerpot for the little girl? i see why they had to break up the angst. plus, cardboard cutouts! *squee*

Yes, it does! It's in volume 18, the one that's all sidestories. Sai's all excited to see baseball for the first time and scared of frogs in that story, too, it's adorable. ("It's Kaga!" "He silences even crying babies!" XD)

I made the mistake of sharing my lunch with the rats once and now they go nuts every time I bring food in my office room. I'm such a softie.

those furry little bastards do pwn us, for sure.

Mulciber gets all pissy about everything on laundry day, because i clean his cage too, so then nothing smells like him either. The first thing he does after he can crawl back on the bed is to rub his shoulder all over the blankets, ala dog with dead thing.

LOL, mine go nuts when I give them baths. But they sneeze on each other and turn brown by the end of the week, so I have to. I have scars that will probably never go away.

Ditto, it just broke my heart, especially when Hikaru didn't hear Sai's last words. *sniff*

The side stories got a little annoying, especially when they interrupted what seemed like the ongoing plot. The manga has it placed better, with all the side stories in volume 18.

The amusing thing of the HnG anime is that they manage to squish the events of almost 2 volumes of manga into... the last 5 minutes of the anime using quick flashes. It's weird to read the manga and realise how much they DID show in the anime, though you can't appreciate those last 5 minutes until you read the side stories.
