mousapelli: (deep thoughts)
[personal profile] mousapelli
the rat isn't doing very well, as a few of you already know. There's nothing to be done really, he's just old, but he stopped eating yesterday, even when offered fried rice or soup.

I've spent the last two days after school essentially just laying around with him and watching Prince of Tennis, figuring that he was there when I started and he ought to see the end.

It's not helping, of course, because the closer I get to the end (i'm in the last half-dozen now) the more it just makes me cry. And cry some more. and then there are montages of Momoshiro and Ryoma's love. Not like I'm hard to set off at this point, but montages.

I think there's likely to be an unfortunate announcement in the next few days. I'm starting work at the library again tonight and I'll probably write to keep busy, but things'll probably be a bit maudlin for a while.

I refuse to watch the last three eps. Well, last two, since the second-to-last one is a double-ep. Either way, I figure if I don't watch the end, it hasn't ended.

Sorry about your little friend. :(

eh, i know its all anime non-canon since the manga got outstripped and they just made up all their own crap, but it's just that everything makes me cry right now.

but then again, even MOMO cries, so can you blame me? and Kaidoh too. waaaah.

I KNOW!!!! And he wasn't even Kaoru-chan at the time! That killed me. Kaoru-chan crying I can deal with.

I'm really sorry about your rat. It's hard to lose a friend. *hugs*

And here are two songs related to the end of tenipuri:

Dream Believer, the last OP. Whenever I hear "It's going to be okay" I can't help but think, no, it's not okay, give me my show back!

The Spirit of this Place by Core of Soul. When I first began to watch Prince of Tennis, I was so in love with it and I kept thinking how it would have to end some day. (The anime was ongoing at that point.) So I would listen to this and tear up.

thanks. I love the little freak like crazy, I don't know what I'm going to do.

aaah, thanks for the songs! i hadn't gotten around to getting the last OP on my own, so I needed it. This show had TONS of awesome themes, didn't it? Wonderful Days has my itunes begging for mercy i've played it so often at this point.

that's how I feel about KKM. I've been watching it since like 17 was aired, and now it's going to end around 80 and I'll be sad to see the fandom change to a static one.

There's always musicals, though, haha.

Yeah, I think that was about when I started with KKM too. I'm not watching the raws, though, so I'm behind. And I've never really engaged with the fandom. Just watched and loved and thought about what it would be like to get with Gwendel and Anissina. *g*

The only two anime I've had a strong reaction about ending are tenipuri and FMA. Tenipuri I really didn't want to end and FMA I couldn't fucking *wait* for it to be over because the stress of watching it was killing me. It was just that good.

I think it's easier to get attached to series that are ongoing because of the waiting. I'm glad we still have the tenipuri manga -- I love reading it and then reading write-ups and talking about it and speculating about who is going to win or be sexed up or both.

i'm not watching the raws of KKM either, i don't understand enough to make it worth it, but I do usually look through the screencap posts so i know essentially what's happening (omg Shori and Greta are killing me with cute).

it's definitely true that not being able to watch them all at once makes for deeper affection, but also that it's easier when everybody else is in the same spot as you, so you're all talking about the same things at the same time, and the comm is much more active and things.

I'm glad too that the PoT manga is ongoing, and [livejournal.com profile] marksykins says the scanlations are keeping up pretty well. Loveless is getting behind just when the getting is good *is ansty*

thanks for the other mp3! I may have to dig myself up an album of theirs, i really like them. You know it occurs to me that this is the sort of niche market my itunes should be catering to. I've had like $10 to use there forever, and I can't quite bring myself to buy stuff that I know I could get in person or could download for free pretty much immediately.

omg, Spirit of this Place is GORGEOUS. God, is all their stuff this good?

and i am SOBBING, by the way. i was sort of holding it in until 'echo in the gym' was in english, and then that was the end. *hugs you for this*

I really, really like Core of Soul. Here's another: Flying People. Do you watch Naruto? This is forever my Sasuke/Naruto song.

I have listened to Spirit of this Place so many times! It breaks me too. I'm really glad I could share it. It just catches the feeling I love about the show and sort of about fandom too.

thanks. I love rats because they actually like being your pet, unlike a lot of other little animals. But all that personality and affection comes at kind of a high emotional toll when they only live 2 years or so.

*hugs* I didn't really get any warning when my mouse Flour died, I just got home from school one day and she was an ex-mouse, so I think it's good that you get time to prepare as much as you can.

Oh yeah... I meant to tell you.
jana and I went to a sci-fi/fant convention in Boston last weekend. There was a ton of anime-manga related stuff... including a 24hr anime room.
Anyway, I went to a panel discussion on the psychological profiles of superheroes. I got there EARLY and the panel before mine was about finding good anime for kids. They were discussing dozens of different series, what would work and wouldn't work for kids of different ages, etc.

They greatly lauded Prince of Tennis. They thought it was a wonderful little series that was very accessible.

I chuckled to myself, "And they've got GREAT fanfic..."
