mousapelli: (happiness arashi)
[personal profile] mousapelli
I UNDERSTAND ARASHI.

So I realized that there were only like six words in the entire chorus of Happiness that i didn't know, so i whipped out the dictionary and ended up with the following:

ETA: okay, so, i'll just type the rest of the lyrics in and add things as i sort of puzzle them out. Um, feel free to tell me this is TOTALLY WRONG and i will fix things.

ETA 2: DAMN. i did the WHOLE SONG. *full of translating pride* probably half of it is wrong, but you should tell me how to fix it!

Mukai kaze no naka de, nageiteru yori mo
Umaku iku koto wo souzou sure ba
Itsu no hi ka kawaru toki ga kuru

Across the street in midst of the wind, I'm not as sad
I'm going, I imagine that thing well [dextrously]
Someday takes the place of today, the time is coming

Muchu de ikiteru tara nani ge nai koto de
Ai ga kizu tsui te tamerai nagara
Nando mo tachi agaru yo

I'm living intently [madly], it's not just some feeling
Love wounds me while i hesitate
Rise up to it however many times!

Omoide no ato saki wo kangae tara samishi sugiru, ne?
Sawagashi mirai ga mukou de, kitto matteru kara

Thinking about the cause and effect of memories makes the loneliness pass by, doesn't it?
I'm moving towards the riotous future, for sure i'm expecting it!

Hashiri dase hashiri dase, asu wo mukae ni ikou
Kimi dake no oto wo kikasete yo
zenbu kanjiteru yo

Run! Run! Go out to meet tomorrow!
Listen only to your own song [sound]!
Feel everything!

Tomenaide tomenaide, ima wo ugokasu kimochi
don'nani chiisana tsubomi demo
Hitotsu dake no Happiness

Don't stop! Don't stop! Stir up the emotion!
However small the bud is [like a flower bud, this part I wasn't sure of], but
it's just one person's happiness!

Namida no kimochi sae kotoba ni dekinai
Shiawase no niji ha nani iro nante
Kinishi naku te ii kara

If only I was able to give up this feeling of tears with a word
what a color would happiness's rainbow be!
[I can't work this part out. "it's okay to worry that" maybe]

Kotae wo mitsuke yo to, omoide mata tsumikasaneteru
Koko kara atarashii basho e nanimo osorenai de

Look for the answer and pile up all the memories again,
Don't fear anything from here to that new place!

Tooku made, tooku made, doko made mo tsuduku michi
Kimi dake no koe wo kikasete yo
zutto soba ni iru yo

Into the distance, into the distance, until the place with the continuous road
Listen only to your own voice!
Always be next to me!

Tomenaide, Tomenaide! Zutto sinjiru kimochi!
Ima ha na mo nai tsubomi dakedo
Hitotsu dake no Happiness

Don't stop, don't stop! Always trust this feeling!
Today the name isn't even a bud [again, bud wtf], but
it's just one person's happiness

Hashiri dase hashiri dase, asu wo mukae ni ikou
Kimi dake no oto wo kikasete yo
zenbu kanjiteru yo

Run! Run! Go out to meet tomorrow!
Listen only to your own song [sound]!
Feel everything!

Tomenaide tomenaide, ima wo ugokasu kimochi
don'nani chiisana tsubomi demo
Hitotsu dake no Happiness

Don't stop! Don't stop! Stir up the emotion!
However small the bud is, but
it's just one person's happiness!

I guess I'll keep working on it? Lol, i'm all self-conscious about it now~! BUT SO CUTE. Arashi, you have the best songs ever (except maybe Yorokobi no Uta).

Ahh, cute!

I have mostly been ignoring lyrics in favor of watching the crazy love that is the PV, but without trying, I did randomly catch that continuous road part. XD

That makes me really happy, actually. That more and more often, I understand things completely without trying.
Like the time my friend was chattering away on the phone and I was wandering around waiting for her to finish. Afterwards, I was like, wait a sec... did you speak half that conversation in English? Which she hadn't, of course. It just registered as "English" because I understood it.

oh, yes! i get so excited when i understand something the first time through.

haha, i seem to have actually finished this song. I'm all O.o about that. I'm really afraid somebody who knows what they are doing will come over here and be like, "um, no."

OK, this is a mess. I'm not even going to try to correct even half of it. But it is a glorious mess! I know that I didn't even try to translate anything until I'd been studying for over two years-- I'd never have had the guts to try to translate something by sheer willpower and looking up every single word in the dictionary so early! Let alone song lyrics, which often kind of have their own rules. So congradulations, and good luck!

really, again, thank you so much. It really helped me out not just that you wanted to talk about it, but that you actually tried to teach me the grammar rather than just telling me what it said.

Being a language teacher, I know how frustrating it can be to drag along somebody at a low level ("no, Tiberius, genitive means POSSESSION. How can you be in Latin V and NOT KNOW THAT?"), but it all has a much better chance of sticking since you made me work out some things on my own.

Do you tutor/TA? Because it seems to me that you would enjoy it, and you would certainly be good at it.

And i really, really love how your icon looks like i am stressing it out so badly.

First, disclaimer being that I'm still fairly low level with my Japanese, but anyway.

Across the street in midst of the wind

According to the dictionary, mukae kaze is "head wind." So if you translate that a little poetically for a song, it's like, "Facing into the wind, I'm not as sad."

And it's just one person's happiness!
That part is difficult to put into English. But I don't think it's "one person." I think the hitotsu is referring to the bud, so... Something like "however small a bud is, even just one is happiness" or "even though a bud is small, it's happiness'"
No... I don't know. ARGH. That's awkwardddddd. ^_^ Because Happiness is sort of being personified? But it's like... implying that Happiness gives itself to people in small waysssss. *DIES*

Okay, never mind.

You're awesome for doing this, because the second I try, I realize just HOW HARD IT IS.

I AM VERY, VERY IMPRESSED. O_O :D :D

hahaha, believe me, I FEEL YOUR PAIN.

BUT. [livejournal.com profile] mark365 helped me out tons and tons, so you should go here (http://mousapelli.livejournal.com/389713.html) and see the new version which i'm pretty damned proud of. *_*

Oh, cool.

HEY. I sort of got that one line.
"Even if you can't put your tearful feelings into words." Close? *LOL*
Ah well. Thanks, seriously. I need to practice and study more, and on top of my 50 kanji flashcards today, that was much more fun. Good motivation. :D

lol, that's how i felt about the whole thing. "I was sort of saying that!"

no no, don't worry about it! it's so much fun to try, isn't it? Mark knows way, way more than me, so don't worry about it at all. I really learned a lot!

Hah, now I am stuck on trying to figure things out because I am SO CURIOUS. Forgive me for spamming.

Where did you get the romaji? Or did you just type from listening?

Because some things might be ambiguous without seeing the kanji, I think...

Kinishi naku te ii kara
I also am not sure, because what is "kinishi?" But it could be something like, "but it's okay to cry"

Namida no kimochi sae kotoba ni dekinai
Shiawase no niji ha nani iro nante
Kinishi naku te ii kara

Verrrry loosely translated on my part (more meaning than literal), that paragraph seems like:

"Even if you can't put your tearful feelings into words... into such colors like the rainbow of happiness, it's okay to cry."

But that was leaving out "kinishi," which COULD be... private (personal) emotions/feelings?

So maybe "...it's okay to cry out your feelings."

Ahahaha, oh, stop me. This is such BS, I'm sure. *facepalm* XD
