We're back safe from NYC, after having coffee with musesfool and seeing the Teriyaki Boyz with marksykins. The NYC-Tokyo festival was a lot of fun! and the TBoyz were adorable and loads of fun in person. Marks and I both commented on how rap seems easier to understand than other music. The event wasn't packed because of the rain, but we had a great time.

Also, some random guys from Fuji TV were standing right behind us, and I ended up getting interviewed by them for a couple minutes about acts crossing the pacific, the turnout, what I thought about the show and the cultural fusion in general. I'm pretty sure I was at least passably intelligent.

But I knew the name Fuji TV sounded familiar and didn't know why? But when i just took a look at something I had tabbed from yesterday, I found the following quote:

""Fuji TV will air a special program for World Cup Volleyball at 15:20 on 24th. They're going to broadcast Jr's concert at Yokohama Arena live and announce the new group in it. The group will perform their debut song then."

AHA. I mean...shit. that's like...a Japanese tv station. So, I might be an internationally recognized tool if that happens to get aired. Er. have I mentioned I've been wearing a couple 5 yen coins on a string since I got back from Japan? and today a gap shirt that says TOKYO with a picture of Tokyo Tower on it?

Do you get Fuji TV? I'm really curious what they air about the whole festival.

I'm not sure! I think it might be soon, because tour season has to be almost over for the Daibouken, but I guess the real question is, when is the world cup volleyball?

I think you are right, because I checked the Fuji TV website and there's a volleyball-related segment scheduled for 15:20 September 24th, so I guess we won't have to wait long? XD The World Cup itself isn't until early November, but like you said, tour ending soon and all.

Also, what's the thing with JE and Volleyball? I swear, about half of the groups in the last twenty years were debuted at some kind of World Cup Volleyball event!

Ha! Sadly it's all in English. Although it would be totally hilarious if i were subtitled on Japanese television.

I dunno! It doesn't seem that Japan likes volleyball an awful lot...you'd think it would be like the sumo wrestling world cup or something.

"All in English" doesn't keep some people from putting in words of fangirl Japanese at every appropriate or inappropriate moment... XDD It's especially funny when those fangirls try to squeal "kawaii!" and pronounce it incorrectly, therefore making it sound more like "kowai!".XD

Yeah, that's what's weird! Because if I recall correctly, V6, Arashi and NewS debuted during some kind of function for the volleyball world cup and I think SMAP did too... so maybe Johnny just likes volleyball? (He probably liked watching some of the positions the players do...XD)
