Pretty tree! My mom made something similar but with family members' faces. Alas, no Japanese bands.

Cool afghan too. Was the color switching hard? How's the rat with skin problems doing?

Date: 2007-12-14 01:48 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mousapelli.livejournal.com
nah, you work it across, so you do one color and then switch to the next one next row. It took a long time though, because it was all chains, so the rows were like an eighth of an inch high.

The rats are still kicking. They're starting to walk funny because of getting old, and Shishido has been refusing to come out of his box lately, but otherwise they're about the same as usual. they had baths today so they were not pleased in any way.

LOL, I remember rat baths. I'd make a huge fuss about, "You smell gooooood!" and they'd sniff disdainfully and pee on each other.

All those shiny people on the shiny stars!! I love that the tree is all pastel and glowy.

And that looks like a very large afghan. I envy your crochet skills!

thanks! The tree's prelit, and I like it a lot.

Yup! That's why i crochet them. it'd take a million years to knit a whole afghan. I have been knitting fingerless gloves this christmas though. It's fun!

. . . Part of me is going '. . . I can't believe she did that.' (another parts is raising an eyebrow at this part and reminded me how I was planning to theme my tree AibaJun.)

The rest of me is amused or Jealous or a combo of the two. Obviously, I have many parts of me. :D :D :D

It looks like it came together really really well! In my head it didn't seem like it would, but it really really did! Awesome!

And I really like the pattern of the Afghan. What stitches were used?

AibaJun tree! I fully support this. It did turn out well! I had a little trouble finding pictures that would be small enough to look good in the little star spaces, but the monthly present giveaways were really helpful.

I can scan it in if you want. Bascially, it's six chains, and then you hook it to the chain below with a single crochet, 6c, single crochet, over and over. You hook the blues to the last blue row and the browns to the last brown row, and it gives it that interwoven look. It was easy, but took a long time because the rows barely gave you any height and you work it the length of the afghan.

Would you scan it? I'd prolly make it into something smaller as I'm a little out of practice, but. *____* So pretty.

IT'S SO... SHINY. Makes me want a tree too [or at least JE Hanukah candles].

It a really huge afghan O_O How long does it take to finish it all up?

Date: 2007-12-15 02:19 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mousapelli.livejournal.com
well, it's crochet, which is a lot speedier than knitting, but this one still took me a while because i kept setting it aside for other projects. Probably if i worked on it routinely for a couple hours a night, it would have taken me about three weeks? Maybe more? I crochet pretty fast.

Is that knitting or crocheted? *peers at afghan* Co-workers are trying to get me into knitting. :D One of them works at a yarn shop and she works on credit so she can buy yarn.

Date: 2008-12-06 12:59 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mousapelli.livejournal.com
that is crocheting! Crocheting is faster and easier, in my opinion, although I can knit too. You should learn! it's relaxing. I'd teach you if you wanted. I taught a bunch of people to do it in college.
