according to the Canon guide for the SB/RL Fuh-Q Fest Sirius' motorbike was, in fact, "an early 1970s Triumph, and at least a 650" (or so the movie says, but JKR was right there, so we'll all assume she knows what she's doing).

Hmm, have just read their claim that 'Sirius was not stupid'. Not in the 'remedial classes' sense, I agree, but I think it's perfectly in line with canon to accept that Sirius wasn't a great thinker. Feeding someone to your best friend when they're in werewolf form is not the act of an intelligent person.
