Nephew's birthday present finished! So, Nephew's favorite book features a bear named Bob:

So I made him this:

lol, it looks a little retarded, but hopefully Nephew will figure it out. if not...well, it's a bear, so maybe he'll think it's appealing on its own merits. I do think I reproduced the sort of bland expression reasonably well.

You might also be amused to know that yesterday we took Nephew to the Renn Faire, and he rushed the stage during the one band's performance because they had a drum kit. LOL. The band seemed amused and let him bang on the scottish hand drum thing for a minute.

Here, have some bonus Nonpig:

So cute! :-D

And I spent the night watching Hoarders, too. That show fascinates me, and also breaks my heart to think about the kind of hell those people live in, yikes.

lol, all things considered, i think it turned out okay.

yeah, a lot of them are almost too horrible to watch, but it's like a trainwreck and I can't look away either.

Cute piiiigs.

scottish hand drum thing?

You don't by any chance mean a bodhran? 'Cause I have one of those! :D (And I can even play it, too!)

yeah, i do probably mean that. Logan had a good time with it.

it's a good think they are cute, since they're such little nutjobs.

Thanks! It's totally not hard, you just crochet in a circle. The bear was a little complicated cause I wanted it to look like something in particular, but i made stuffed monkeys before that were way quicker and pretty easy.

one hopes, since he's smart enough to clap condescendingly for us. Thanks! I'm sure I can find totally questionable things to crochet for impending Martyko/suke.

Bodhran? Sweet.

And what book is that?

From: [identity profile] mousapelli.livejournal.com
yes, that.

It's Hello My Name is Bob (http://www.amazon.com/Hello-Name-Bob-Linas-Alsenas/dp/0545052440/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1283573486&sr=1-1). It's not the best kid's book in the universe, but we think it's hilarious because the main character is exactly like nephew's favorite uncle.

The bear turned out so cute! Mine always have stuffing sticking out and crooked faces.

We were thinking about going to the Renaissance Faire out here next weekend, but it's in fact an hour further away than the website claims, so we'll probably skip it.

Oh lord, about two weeks ago I watched all the Hoarders and Hoarding: Buried Alive videos I could find online. I was happy to have done it after having had my enormous garage sale. I have serious "collecting" problems that could lead to my house turning into a dump like that, and most of the people I know are various degrees of hoarders. Now the vague trauma of watching those shows will negate need for hoarding therapy in future. :P Plus I've stopped going to Goodwill twice a week.

yeah, ours is about 30 minutes away, so it's not too far.

I have to admit, I was sort of uncomfortable with how easily how i have way too much stuff could totally turn into something like that if were less mentally healthy and lived in the same place for a long, long time. hopefully not to the point where people come in and find dead cats I didn't know about, though.

The having stuff problem explodes once you have kids. We got rid of our "baby stuff" and it was a good 25% of everything we owned. Plus, kids generate a lot of sentimental stuff like craft projects and photos. My husband likes to save old boxes and pieces of soap and yogurt containers and likes to stock up on stuff like toilet paper, so we were halfway there. We got rid of about 50 boxes last month. We actually have an entire empty room. It's fabulous.
