I didn't exactly mean to start mainlining Monster over Netflix, but I'm on episode 14 atm. oops. It's good, if a little slow in places, and I think these side distractions are why it's going to take them 70 episodes to get someplace, but something about it is sort of compelling, at least enough to keep clicking the 'next episode' button on Netflix. Maybe it's just that Netflix makes it ridiculously easy to keep going, lol.

I bought back to school shoes. I went for sandals that wouldn't be embarrassing to wear to work and ended up with these super comfortable brown ones as well. I waffled about it because they weren't cheap, but then I had a surprise $25 coupon on my rewards card. Score!

Also I am totally excited for JGS to show up on Ikemen next week. I can't even imagine what he and Tamamori chatted about, but I have a feeling that they totally got along and Fujigaya was just like "whaaaaaat." They said really nice stuff about each other in their interviews at any rate ♥

Hurricane is on its way through but it's just heavy rain for me. Hope all of you are keeping safe and dry.

Monster is one of my favorite shows! I decided I really liked the English dub (I know, horrors; I do like some things in translation when the translation's good) and so ended up watching the majority of the episodes as they aired for the first time on SyFy, two a week. Such hard waiting!

The side distractions are indeed what makes it so long, but they're also the principle of the show, because that's the essence of these characters and the characters are the principle. (Did that even make any sense?)

Netflix actually has the subs? or idk if there's someway to switch that and I'm just getting the subs as a default, but it never asked me to make a choice or anything.

I don't mind the dubs of FMA or KKM for instance. I think it depends on what you watched first, other than obvious questions of editing. like the 4kids dub of One Piece was holy shit so bad that when Funimation bought it they had to start over from seriously the very beginning. The weirdest thing about that though is that they did the theme songs in English? like the same music just in English, so it was really weird.

Right now I think Netflix streaming is very limited in what it shows in sub or dub; it makes the choice which version it shows. I don't think you can pick the language for Monster.

One of my favorite YouTube vid series is AnimeAmerica's "Top 10 Best English Dubs" and "Top 10 Worst English Dubs." Have a look if you have time; SO funny! And I completely called some of their "Best" choices as the list got down to the top few.

I can't predict which versions I'll like in sub or dub better; sometimes it's just one character's voice that sends me screaming back to the other version. I agree it usually depends on what you watched first.
