At the risk of jinxing it, the start of school actually wasn't too terrible. It's my sixth one and it was probably one of the smoother ones I've had, even going between the two buildings. I think after six years it's time to admit that I need a school icon.

Apparently september is also upgrade month, since my mother is coming over in a bit and we're going to look at grown-up couches to replace the futon, since the back is warped and i'm sick of fixing it. Sanapig and I have totally bonded with the new television at this point, and the fact that Netflix is providing us a constant stream of anime and Hoarders. I've got a hi-def connector for the wii, so unlike the cable, the tv that I netflix looks really good on the LCD.

anyway, I want a couch with a recliner and a little drop-down table like my parents have, so the questions is whether the thing that I specifically want is on sale or not for Labor Day.

Three-day weekend! Woo!

Labor Day is probably the best time to go for that. Fingers crossed and all that, even though I'll miss the crappy futon.

Uh, also, how have you been teaching for six years already? We are old.

Yeah, Wolf's seems like it's having a pretty good sale, so I think this might work out. I will sort of miss the futon too! i do actually like the way the wood frame looks a lot, but probably the expense of fixing it and replacing the cushion would be half the cost of just getting a couch, so.

idek, it sounds crazy. the new freshmen who don't know everybody yet go by in the hallway and older kids are like "oh that's magistra, she's been here forever." LOL WHAT. also we tried to play Go Fish in Latin I to practice numbers on Thursday and it was a complete failure. One group had all the cards spread out face up and were just making pairs. I was like, have you never played a card game in your entire life?!

there's usually a couple, but this year it reached critical mass. other groups were like "UNO!" and then somebody else was like, I'm out of cards! I win!

PS i feel like our icons are on an awkward date where Tezuka somehow landed a pretty outgoing girl totally out of his league just because she sort of reminded him of Ryoma.
