the ibook cord is well and truly dead. There was no flashy exit, no going out in a blaze of blue sparks, one minute it was working and the next, nothing.

so I've just spent $50 to replace it that no doubt could have been used for something better. it's not even an Apple replacement, it's something equivalent that the internet SWEARS will work, because the apple version would have set me back $80. again.

fucking rat.

*crosses fingers that two-day shipping means it will arrive at home in Saturday's mail*

next step: posting the bits of the fic i'm working on locked to myself in case i can't charge my laptop for days.

Oh no! At least the ibook itself didn't die from the bad cord. I'm very lucky my rats don't chew much, but they don't get much opportunity, either.

This stuff happens a lot this time of year. I spent a crapload fixing up my car after a stupid accident. *Sobs at pocketbook*

*Big hugs* Here's hoping it comes soon!

thanks. i need to get one of those plastic cord shields or something. i just don't understand why something that is fundamentally two wires wrapped in plastic must be $80. I fail to understand.

I hope so too, because the dying battery means that it must be plugged back in after roughly an hour and a bit, and once i leave burlington tomorrow morning, i won't even be able to borrow ellen's cord for charging.

aw, hope your car is okay now. that's the one thing that isn't costing me money at the moment. *craves a real job*

It probably has to do with the transformer. But it's a horrible ripoff. My laptop has no working battery at all, so I know what a royal pain this is.

I got lucky with the car because it took us through three years of un/under-employment. We'd just gotten our second car (whoo-hoo!) so it wasn't so bad.

I really ought to get a real job instead of writing for 6 hours a day. *Sigh* I'll end up making less money than minimum wage even if I do sell them. But this is probably more fun.
