copperbadge reports that it is the year of the dog with fire (Year of the Dog BURNING), which makes sense as I will turn 24 this year. Since I'm a fire sign in the Western Zodiac, perhaps it will be a good year for me. Although I doubt there will be as much porn as in the year of the Metal Rooster (hard shiny cock?)

Further internet research reveals that I am in fact water-dog +Yang, which apparently makes me Sea Water. The first word of description in the +Yang column is 'odd'.

As usual, my horoscope is eerily accurate even when they are strange (Aries-Taurus cusp wtf?) I can't find a site that will tell me what my 'secretive' animal is, but I'm hoping for rat.

Speaking of rats, the litter I might get new boys from looks to have all dark fur, and 5 out of 9 are boys! huzzah!

I actually know a lot of dogs too. We come in...well, packs i suppose. hahaha.

So, wikipedia comes to the rescue again and tells me my secretive animal is...rat. LOL. If i am doing this right, anyway, because Beijing time is NYC time -11 hours (i think) which would make me born between 11pm-midnight there, which equals rat.

Actually, it looks like 13 hours, if Beijing is UTC +8. New York is UTC -5. But I don't think they do Daylight Savings Time, so it'd be 12 hours then?

That puts me around 2am Beijing time, which makes me an ox. Great. I'm an ox and a horse. Someone yoke me. If it's still 13 hours, I am on the ox/tiger cusp which is a scary pairing to think about. My inner animal is a snake if I'm right in assuming the first month of a lunar cycle begins at Chinese New Year. *slithers with yoke*

ah, you are probably right, I can't ever figure out the time changes and daylight savings time, and I'm unsure what time I was born at anyway. Every single year, my mother has to dig out the birth certificate and look, and neither one of us can remember anyway.

if it's -13, i think that makes me a pig? -12 is pig/rat, which may explain why i can't decide between guinea pigs and rats as roommates. I think its clear i am some pinkish animal who is too smart for its own good.

I can't figure out the lunar thing AT ALL. I think the goal is that eventually you are everything. I AM ONE WITH THE UNIVERSE BURNING.

I am year of the horse earth + Yang, apparently. Yay for being born EARLY in January so I am not a sheep twice over. Can you imagine being both a Capricorn and a sheep? Stubborn much?

On the other hand, I am pretty much the anti-Capricorn. For someone born smack-dab in the middle of her zodiac sign, I share as few traits with my sign as is humanly possible. It's always made it rather difficult to believe in astrology for me. *laughs*

Capricorn is also an earth sign, so I am earth twice over. Again, not seeing the connection. *shakes head* I'm a water baby, through and through. Always have been, always will be. With just a touch of air, maybe.

haha, no worries! all of my stuff comes out water in the Chinese zodiac system. I'm fire/earth in Western style (silly cusp birthday), so I think that's kind of funny. It makes me happy though because I'm thinking about getting a tattoo of the kanji for ice before I leave vermont, so now i can tell people its a zodiac thing rather than admitting i just like it/am amused it's part of the kanji for Hyoutei

You know, traditionally the year of your own Chinese sign (12, 24, 36, etc) is one where you're supposed to be particularly careful of the choices that you make.
