Ohnoes! Neopets Drama

I just tried to log into my side neopets accounts because of a random faerie quest, and apparently now you are supposed to know not only your password, but also the birthdate you signed up with.

O.o well apparently, three of my five accounts have a different date assigned, cause it accepts my password but then won't let me log in still because the birthday is wrong! NOT FAIR! I can't log into my accounts, even though I know the passwords? Dude, it's not my damned bank account, it's a virtual pet site. come on, now.

I sent them an email about it, but I don't know what they'll say. :\ I really think the security thing has gotten rather out of control over there, and I don't think they should be able to change that stuff without asking you.

That happened when I tried to log into the last Neopets account I had before this one, and I couldn't remember what birthday I'd used so it was just easier to get a new account at the time. Do you still need the faerie quest thingy?

i need a "hissi in a box" if it's convenient for you to link me to somebody. I kind of got sidetracked by the wtfness of it all.

I mean, yeah, I could guess at the dates, but I'm pretty sure I just made them different from mine so I wouldn't get the birthday emails all lumped together and whatnot. so they could be anything, although, i have all of mine neofriended, so i can at least see their ages.

lol, i painted her on a whim like my first couple weeks of neopets, right before christmas. I will tell you how long i've been playing: that paintbrush cost me like 22k. I earned the np for it in one day of games.

I am such a packrat and have had my account so long that i actually have retired paintbrushes. They don't even work at the rainbow pool, so sad. I really do wonder why they are getting so insane on a free site about security anyway. I mean really what are they so uptight about?

And then of course they probably still stop letting you try to log in for a while after however many mistakes, so it could take a while to get back into those side accounts. Waaaay too much trouble.

yeah, if they don't answer my email, i guess i'll just start guessing. I'm not sure how many tries you get to figure out the birthday, if there's a limit. I know my password! so infuriating.

I have good painted pets and petpets though, which is the problem, and also my accounts are like 4 years old, so i'm really not so much for the starting all over.

Yeah, I don't really care about the last account I had because it only had a couple of pets I never really got anywhere with, but I've got an older account with a cybunny and another with a koi, so if I remembered how to get into those there's no way I'd abandon them again.

well, but here's something interesting. like i said, if you neofriend the account, you can see the age, so that'll tell you the year. So, if all you're missing is the dob, you could just check the age every couple of days until eventually it changes, and then you're know the birthday just happened.

That's my plan if i don't hear back. *shrugs*

I tried that, (this might be slightly different to yours though) and I worked out the maths and stuff... Still came out wrong. It's making me feel a little disappointed and annoyed now.

God, I hate that! D: Most of my accounts were made so long ago that I lied about my age (...I was twelve, it's allowed! I wanted to play on the roleplay board! ;_;) and apparently I wasn't exactly truthful about the dates, either. Plus then their thing about having numbers in your password... I mean, that wouldn't bug me, except that now I can't remember it, and the e-mail addresses they have (if they have any! Some of the accounts were made before that was a requirement, apparently o_O) are for expired domains. D: I want to get back on my old accounts where all my stuffs is! ;-;

I noticed that when I logged on the other day to play some pyramids and put my pets back in the lodge. I entered my password and just hit enter. Then it told me I didn't put in my birthday and I was all 'the hell?'

Oh well, if it gets people to stop trying to hack a kids site it can't be all bad. It would have been nice if they had warned us though. Mass emails are possible.

That's happened to me too. When I created my account years ago I just entered a birthday date at random and now I can't log in. I e-mailed them and they were actually quite helpful but said that I needed to e-mail them from the e-mail address I signed up with (which is now dead) and tell them things about my account only I could know (and seeing as I hadn't signed in for at least a year I can't remember anything).

I'm frustrated too, when I made one of my older accounts I was too young to use some of the features, so I lied and said I as 18. No big deal at the time. Now... WTH? You need to put your bday in? I mean, thats the stupidest thing I've ever heard, especially for a site like Neo! I tried to get round it, cos my newer active account is neofriends with the older one (long story) and it said my age was 21 on the that one... So I did a bit of math, 2008-21, put my bday in hopefully... and poof! LIEK SORRY YOU PUT TEH WRONG BDAY IN! DX nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! It sucks!

yep its annoying. u get (only!) 3 tries a day, so u need... er... about 122 days (estimates)to get everythin, if u hav the year.
Maybe they put the bday thing cuz they wanted to reduce the number of neopets players.I hav a few accounts that i cant get in too cuz of the dumb bday.
