mousapelli: (yabu hikaru best)

[livejournal.com profile] snowqueenofhoth and I agree that what's printed on the screen during Angel Come To Me reflects not the actual lyrics, but what somebody thinks Yabu is singing when Yabu plaining learned it all phonetically.

This is like auditory babelfish.

So we spent some disgustingly long amount of time figuring out what [mostly] this says. There's still a couple lines that are all garbled, even though we have a shot at what it probably was supposed to say before Yabu wrapped his lips around it.

Angel Come To Me (Yabu's Solo)

[stuff in brackets is either still the printed lyrics or something we have no idea about] 'Seeded' might also be 'seething,' not that Yabu would know the difference.

I've got all my time to give if you’d only see
I've got lots of faith in love if you still believe
Don't you know we've got a good life to achieve
Angel come to me

Heaven sent down an angel to my heart
To bring a brand new start
When the sky's still and gray
Heaven sent down an angel to my heart
I felt a breath of life since you came my way

Below [it's sudden person to be] seeded with life TN: we think it's something about the grass or the ground)
Softly turning green
Rain is giving life [to burst inside of you]
Angel Come To Me

Heaven sent down an angel
To my sad and lonely heart
(The sky is changing to blue again because of you)
Don't worry, summer’s turning green
It's been seeded with life
(Ever since you came this way)

Heaven sent down an angel to my heart
To bring a brand new start
When the sky's still and gray
Heaven sent down an angel to my heart
I felt a breath of life since you came my way

Anybody else is welcome to try, lol. Based on the composer, we're sure that the original lyrics did make sense, it's just Yabu's english fail + JE karaoke fail that produces the hilarity.

I've always thought it was "I've got all my time to give if you will receive"?

I have one of those old performances when he was still cute and little with like those types of misspelled English lyrics XD

that's what the screen says, lol, but the screen says lots of other crazy shit too. That one isn't the most nonsensical thing ever, though, so it might be right the way it was. But it kind of doesn't exactly sound like what Yabu is saying, which is the problem with the next line either.

I watched a bunch of the chibi perfs of this in a row, trying to get a clearer version, but no luck, lol. However Yabu learned these 'words', he sings the same now as he ever did.

If Yabu was one of the fobs that I have to tutor, I'd make him repeat his English words relentlessly

Wait, so he's making that stuff up as he goes? Or like, someone spelled it out in hiragana for him and he's following it or something?

no, i think he just learned it by listening, like I used to learn Japanese stuff, by stringing together a bunch of syllables, some of which make sense to him but most of which don't. So the phrases he sort of gets are much clearer, like "angel come to me", but the bits that he doesn't get at all, like things about buds and seething/seeded with life, he just sort of bungles through, and it sounds bizarre to us because his stresses are all odd and he's got r/l/b/th/d confusions because of the language barrier.

Hence "ever sit down" becomes "heaven sent down".

I mean, i'll be honest, that's how I learned the words to a lot of things years ago, like the Kyou Kara Maou theme for instance, and if a Japanese person heard me doing it, they'd probably laugh in my face.

The english failure of asian people in general is way hilarious... (just remember that webpage dedicated to "Engrish" XD)

but yeah...shokura karaoke failures...I wonder if there's a beta-reader for the subs at NHK really... ^^; especially for the English stuff...and well, we all know that the English sometimes doesn't make any sense...

thanks for this attempt at deciphering what the boy is trying to tell us =D
otsukare!

Brilliant! Kudoz to you two! =D *claps* I'm amazed at how you found a proper meaning for the "rain is keeping wet for birds". That line always puzzled me so much.

For the "it's been sitting with life" line I thought it might probably be "it's been seething with life", but yours makes more sense too. Good job! =D You should send this to the offices of J&A. LOL

as many times as i've listened to it at this point, I'm surprised I don't have an entire alternate song going on.

Yeah, seething and seeded are both equally probable, I feel. if you have any further inspiration about the "sudden person", i'd love to hear it, lol. It's driving me nuts that there's only two lines we don't have something plausible for. oh Yabu.

I knew it was 'my way' and not 'away'. XD

Dude, when I go to karaoke with students, they sometimes sing English songs. It's VERY easy to tell who's singing the English, and who's reading the katakana above it.

I was sure there had been another performance of Angel Come to Me on SC apart from the 2005 one, and thanks to somebody I found out which episode it was. I was wondering if you had watched this one because there are some lines at the beginning you girls might want to add to your revised lyrics XD - http://ya3scpfs.blogspot.com/2006/12/061210-ya-ya-yah-medley.html

Strangely enough I didn't even mention this performance when I made a blog entry about that SC in 2006 and I hadn't posted it either at my Ya3 SC performances site either. O_o???

oh, i hadn't seen that one before! Thank you! New lyrics and everything, hmm...

I really like those black and green costumes, I wish they'd get them back out again.

Also, have you watched the Mayonaka no SHADOW BOY pv yet? Yabu and Hikaru (and everybody else) are ridiculously hot.

*transcribes*

I came to sescribe the color of my mind
Forgive forget just one I leave the past far behind
Before I'm turning into a frozen stone

What I think it might be:

I can't describe the color of my mind
Forgive forget just want to leave the past far behind
Before I'm turning into a frozen snow

I'm pretty sure about the first two lines. "just wanna" becomes "just one I" in the lyrics, because yeah, that IS more what it sounds like, but it also shows the person transcribing has very little working knowledge of English in anything other than a written form.

And
Below [it's sudden person to be] seeded with life

I think it's "below the snow the [no idea] is seeded with life

Oh, wow...I never thought of the lyrics this way. They actually do make sense! O.O Wow...I showed this song to my mom and she thought he was speaking Greek or Swahili at first and when I told her it was English and showed her the JE karaoke lyrics she was like "O_o" LOL

Thanks a lot for this, mousey! 8D

(Hello! I saw a link to this on NEWShFAN's site)
"Don't worry, summer's turning green"
ohhhhhhhhhhhhh... that makes much more sense, though I'm quite fond of the lyrics so I wouldn't want to change them XDD
